Be Still and Listen/Poem/Gina Day

As a child, it was often difficult to sit still
To listen, why that was quite often tough
Why there was so much to see and do at will
And our parents, my they had it rough

But after a story from the Bible and prayer then
The quiet would cradle me in the dark of night
A big moon or rising mist was nice back when
my pets would accompany me just so right

Jesus would talk with me in a whisper so sweet
Like a scene from the Bible or how to be still
It was those times I learned__ so neat
I was God’s child, He showed me, I obeyed His will

As I grew, my mind and heart did, too
Example and hands-on, Jesus showed me so much
Honoring Papa and Mama, so much to do
To be the best I can be and such

Now that I am aged, I can hardly sit still again
Because I can hardly wait to see heaven and all
But I do ever since lessons from Jesus began
I hear up yonder, “come home” child; the call__

It all will be worth being still and listening well
To my parents and elders, teachers, and Jesus, for sure
No matter our age, learning in the quiet, to stay out of hell
Cleansing our hearts and walking the narrow way is joy so pure
