© Gina Ann Day September 23, 2013 Dedicated in memory of my late husband Robert Lloyd day Jr. on this would have been his 53rd birthday. Sadly he chose suicide for unknown reasons. I can only hope and pray Jesus took his weary soul home. I will rejoice if found in heaven he roams, I can not dwell a fiery home for this veteran who chose a tragic end. He is greatly missed and love is eternal.
I can not know where you chose to go in the end
But when you left, I lost my husband and friend
Seems like yesterday__ you chose a violent death
Gave up your life, left this world, took your last breath
Memories of a troubled past__ and beautiful moments behind us
Confusing__ giant of a man, so tender hearted, mean old cuss.
You were a part of me__ and took a part of me with you
I could never hate you__ I surely loved you true.
This day God blessed your parents many years ago
Despite your temper, they too loved you so
Rolling on down the highway, trucking hard in your prime
Working relentlessly, taking it to the limit__ one more time__
Nobody seemed to care what it took to deliver our freight
Nor celebrated with us when we made it on time overweight.
We slaved day in and day out, never understanding how
Or caring why, but trucking was in our blood, to travel was__ wow!
Unchained Melody was our song__ it means more now
To vision your hovering spirit holding me close somehow.
Happy birthday__ wherever you may be__ I still care
You are gone forever now, yet you remain my big strong Bear.
